Outfit of the Day: Tartan Crush

Happy Tuesday everybody! I'm sure like most of you returning to work this week, I really struggled to get up or even out the house this morning. On a day like today, I want nothing more than to be able to throw on something easy, simple but pretty. Not only does it show from my photos but I've come to realise that what better way to cheat a high fashion look then by getting on the tartan trend.

Bottle Green Cable Knit Cardi, £48, Topshop | Tartan Smock Dress, £32, Topshop | Frill socks, £2.50, Primark | Gold Chain Loafers, £10, New Look | Lion Head Chain Necklace, $14.99, The Bone Machine | Colour Crush Lipstick, £10, The BodyShop

The tartan trend goes as far back as the 1930's, worn by the working class gent and re-emerging throughout the 1970's and 80's with Punk culture in the UK. When I think tartan, I think punk rock, Christmas and Winter, and colour and better yet is that it can be dressed up or down for any occasion or look. What I love most about it is that you can put together a look that is, overall, very simple but the pattern of the plaid will give it a high fashion edge. Here are some of my top tartan picks that paired with some basic jersey pieces, make the perfect outfit build...

Tartan Balloon Trousers, £50, Topshop | Plaid Sheer Blouse, £25, New Look | Tartan Scarf, I got mine for £4 from a charity shop. Essential for winter. | Crop Long Sleeve Top, £25, Topshop | Checked Midi Skirt, £9.99, Missguided | Tartan 60 Denier Tights, £7, Dorothy Perkins
Hope everyone is having a good week,
