Event: Glue E4 Series Launch

On Wednesday night I ventured to the Islington Metal Works to celebrate the series press launch of E4's newest coming-of-age, crime drama, Glue. Complete with blooded pitch forks, tea lights, sunflowers and a tube train turned bar, the launch was a fun premiere for one of E4's most anticipated productions.

Written by BAFTA-Winning Jack Thorne, the eight-part drama is set in the Berkshire town of Lambourn and follows a group of teens as they come to terms with their surroundings, their prospects for the future and the ghastly murder of one of their friends. In this Midsummer Murders meets Skins type drama, we are treated to beautifully shot yet dark scenes in which each character is explored and more depth unfolds as we draw ever near to finding out 'who did it'. Unlike anything we've previously seen from E4, and whilst I jest that it is reminiscent of Skins, Glue presents a whole new platform for a teen, crime drama hybrid. The drama explores the Roman Gypsy community and explores feelings of otherness which have not yet been examined in previous series' of its genre. And whilst the cast may be entirely made up of young actors, (featuring Submarine's Yasmin Paige, Billy Howle, Charlotte Spencer and Rizzle Kick's Jordan Stephens,) Glue offers a narrative for a much wider audience and a cast that we are bound to see as great british actors in future years.

Following the screening of the first episode, we were treated to a Q&A with the cast, drinks and indoor BBQ complete with photo booths, DJ sets and celebrity guests. Here are some of my pics from the evening...

I had a great night and a big thanks for E4 for the invite. I can't wait for the next one. Check out Glue this Monday at 10pm and let me know what you think! **Watch the trailer here**
