Outfit of the Day: Black Velvet

Hello! Back again with another Outfit of the Day. Today's outfit is getting ready for the Christmas spirit with a little of my favourites - black velvet and a bit of sparkle. 

Every December, I filter glitz in to my daily outfits anyway I can because it seems more socially acceptable around this time of year. That means sequins, glitter and sparkle any which I can get it in. Luckily, this year, Topshop have produced some easier ways to add some glamour to your everyday look...

I fell in love with this crop top as soon as I set eyes on it. Cropped (tick) Glittery (tick) Black (tick) and ultimately - totally vintage looking (TICK). The top comes in a variety of colours and I love that this can be dressed up or down to tie together any style you're going for. 

  Also, this month, I managed to find this black velvet check skirt in an unlikely place whilst Christmas shopping with my mum. I never get anything in Dorothy Perkins (ever!) but this caught my eye as I needed a smartish skirt for work and this is velvet and checked AND 30% off! It's very Joan from MadMen - and I like that!  Twinned with some sheer tights and my Primark monk shoes and bewitching fedora - this makes for an easy, throw on outfit with a bit of glitter for the festive season. Tomorrow night is my office staff party and it's smart/casual dress and so I may whip this one out for a Christmasy yet played down outfit.
