Outfit of the Day: Floral Fifties

Hello, hello! How are you enjoying this fine Saturday? With Coachella starting today, I'm definitely ready for Summer to happen and one of my favourite things about Summer is that it brings out everyone's inner vintage goddess...

The nice people at Blue Vanilla were kind enough to send me over a 50's inspired, floral number and I thought I'd share it all with you today. In keeping with the 50's style, I thought where better to shoot then a rockabily bar? The Fighting Cocks in Kingston were amazing enough to let us shoot there and I think it acts as a great backdrop for a vintage outfit of the day.

As you may have guessed by now, today's outfit is all about the Imogen Floral Print Skirt*. I'll be honest, at first I was unsure of it. As I took it out of the parcel, I thought the fabric wasn't quite as expected and I wasn't sold on the actual print. However, once I tried it on (along with a variety of tops) I was really pleased with the fit, the length and how well it goes with a lot of my current wardrobe. I found that it goes with pretty much any style of top and the elastic waist means you can tuck things in to maintain that 50's style hourglass.
The full circle cut is one that never goes out of style and it comes back in every summer, year after year and I really like the colours in the floral pattern. In true Blue Vanilla fashion, they've taken a vintage inspired piece and given it a sassy modern twist and produced it at pretty decent value also! I've paired mine with a denim shirt from last year's Primark collection and some classic Dr.Marten's and some frilly socks to keep it girly but edgy.

Thanks again to Blue Vanilla for gifting me this lovely item, you can see a previous Blue Vanilla post here also. I'm super excited for their up and coming summer range which features a lot of 60's/70's influences. What do you think of Blue Vanilla's new S/S'15 range? How would you style yours? It's good to be back with my first outfit of the day in a while, let me know what you think! Comments below!

Hope everyone's having an amazing weekend,
