Hello, hello! Earlier this week, I attended a film screening of Birdman as part of Rooftop Cinema Club at the Queen of Hoxton in Shoreditch. Boasting cult classics on top of some of London's best rooftops, here's a sneak peak of what I got up to...
You guessed it, Rooftop Cinema Club is exactly as it sounds - a cinema on a rooftop. Based across several London locations from July to September, Rooftop Cinema Club hosts a series of different film screenings, some new and classic, in an unlikely yet picturesque place. On Wednesday, Queen of Hoxton hosted the screening of Birdman: Or The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance (Alejandro González Iñárritu, 2014). Whilst I had seen the film before (you can read my film review of it here), it's rare for us cinephiles to get some fresh air and so I was more than happy to take part in the experience of it all.
Having grabbed our rather pricey but yummy, film-themed cocktails, we headed to the rooftop. In true Shoreditch style, everything is adorable and beautifully decorated with cute fairy lights, old movie posters and random brightly coloured junk. Hot food, drinks, popcorn and sweets are all provided along with blankets to keep you snug during the movie. Upon entry we were given wireless headphones which are surprisingly handy as you can adjust the volume to whichever setting you like and keep playing even when you nip to the loo!
It is a slightly more pricey date night with drinks being around £8 each, tickets priced at £12-15 and a popcorn and sweets sharer at £5. However, it is definitely an enjoyable one - great films in a great atmosphere. Despite needing the blankets afterall (it was a bit chilly), it makes a refreshing change from paying the same price to see it in your local Odeon.
Have you visited Rooftop Cinema Club? What did you think? Don't forget to check out my review of Birdman and let me know if you've seen the film yourself. As always, I love reading your comments so please leave your thoughts below. If you get a chance to check out Rooftop Cinema Club before it finishes, I honestly think it's so worth it! Hope everyone has a great weekend,
Until next time movie fans,
I love the look of this cinema! Even thought it's expensive, I love quirky places like this. I'll have to look out for it next year, as it sounds fun :)

Yeah I mean you end up paying like £12 for an Odeon ticket anyway and after you've bought snacks etc it kinda works out the same really! It's really cute - I think it finishes at the end of September and then they do Hot Tub Cinema in the winter! Thanks for reading hun :) x
