Lifestyle Review: The PetShop.co.uk

Hello, hello. Today I'm sharing a rather different review. Last week was #NationalCatDay and knowing me to be a crazy cat lazy, PetShop.co.uk asked if I would be interested in receiving some goodies for my cat, Rosie. Having received an excellent box of treats, I thought it would be nice if Rosie shared her review with you all but since she's a cat, I'm posting this instead...

Rosie is 18 years old and is the most beautiful girl in the world (I'm sure every cat owner will say the same about theirs too). As you can imagine, I like to spoil her and nothing is too good for her and so when PetShop.co.uk offered to send her some premium treats, I was more than happy to accept. For those of you new to the service, PetShop.co.uk offer everything from food to grooming treatments and medicines, all available online for pretty much any pet you can think of.

The box itself was addressed to "Rosie the Cat" which I thought was an adorable touch and I was really impressed with the products inside. Having had Rosie for 18 years, I've gotten to know the brands she does and doesn't like as well as the ones that are value for money. It was a lovely surprise then to see the box her usual food, x12 Felix pouches* and of course, Dreamieswhich cat owners will know - is pretty much like crack for cats. They'll kill you for a bag of these.

Now, Rosie has never been a fan of chicken flavoured foods. She will straight up kill you for fresh meats, chips and cheese and onion crisps, but, for some reason she has always turned her nose up at chicken flavoured cat foods/treats. I was a little apprehensive when I noticed the Hills Ideal Balance Chicken & Brown Rice food* but surprisingly, she ate it all up. I had a chat with a fellow cat lover at work and it turns out that Hills is actually recommended by the vets as it provides a healthy yet balance diet (especially for mature animals) with zero additives. I thought that having been on the Go-Cat for years, a less sugary option may put Rosie off but she seems to be getting through that bag pretty fast. And that's a big-ass bag. It seemed to have certainly surpassed Rosie's diva mentality which she's developed in her old age.

The package also contained a toy. Rosie has never been a cat who plays with toys, especially now she's old, and instead finds great joy in the simple things in life such as knocking a full cup off a table , biting your toes or chasing a pen round the floor. She did however seem pretty intrigued by these Cat Tennis Balls*. I think because they are fuzzy, they attracted her and she did play with them, even if it was only for a little while before she took to sitting directly in front of the TV screen. Overall, I was super pleased with the service from PetShop.co.uk and Rosie seemed rather happy with her treats. I think the service is ideal for pet owners who don't always have the time to get to the store and also for those larger items that can be hard to carry home.

All pet owners will also know that our animals are the most beautiful creatures until we try to take a photo of them and they become the devil and so, you can understand my lack of photos of Rosie. BUT Tell me about your pet! What do they like/dislike? Have you ever tried ordering for them from online? As always, I love hearing from you so please do leave your comments below. Thank you so much to PetShop.co.uk for sending these over,

Until next time animal lovers,

*These items were gifted to me by PetShop.co.uk for review - all opinions are honest and my own and have not been influenced by the brand

    1. I know! She's still a kitten to me though, she never got much bigger from being one, she's still so tiny. Ah really? Is that because she's fussy or you make an effort to only give her fish? x

  2. What a babe - my old cat was 19 and she was so sassy. My cat, Muffin, is 15 and she's the fussiest x

    1. Aw that's such a good age. Rosie will be 19 soon! She's such a diva and still super active so I hope she's got plenty left in her yet. I'd love another cat as my other cat died a few years ago but I think she's too old to have a new cat introduced to her house. Muffin is such a cute name haha xx

  3. Rosie is gorgeous! What a great age for a cat. This post was funny too, was laughing when you said she "finds great joy in the simple things in life such as knocking a full cup off a table".

My boy cat is really fussy with his biscuits and will only seem to eat James Wellbeloved Turkey & Rice biscuits. Wondering now if I should try him on Hill's Idea Balance. He has the cat version of IBS so need to be careful what I feed him!
My lady cat will eat anything she can get her hands on though x

    1. Aw thank you, yeah she's pretty freakin' old but going strong. Ha thanks, it's true though - cats do mental things and find strange pleasures in things like destroying your home haha. Ooh I haven't bought those before but I heard they're good for them, especially as they get older. Apparently Hill's is super healthy but not all cats like it as it's not got alot of the sugars they usually love from Go cat and stuff which aren't always great for them. I didn't realise cats could even get IBS! Poor kitty. I had a boy cat who was allergic to milk! It was a nightmare!

Yeah, I find girl cats are more likely to try steal your food whereas boy cats aren't so fussed and can be more picky xx

  4. That is such a good age for her, what a cutie! I don't have any cats just because our dogs are not used to them so we don't feel safe in bringing a cat home, just in case. However, my nans just got a new kitty & I'm in love with him! I worked in a pet shop and that food is definitely good for her, although I'm as surprised as you that she ate it. They can be divas them kittys haha. So so cute!

    1. Yeah she's so old haha you've never know it though. Ha I know, I thought she'd be able to tell it was healthy and reject it but weirdly she eats it. I would love to work in a pet shop, I bet it was great being around all the animals! x

  13. Awww I love Rosie and I'm glad to hear she enjoyed all her food and treats! Benji is a fuss pot with food, sometimes he tucks right in and then you can give him the exact same flavour a few days later and he doesn't touch it! Typical cat! He loves toys but tends to destroy them really fast so I stick with scrunched up tinfoil which is a lot cheaper. He also bosses me about on a regular basis. I don't own a cat he owns me!! Xx
