This week, myself and Jack were invited to visit 1980s Berlin (or a club decorated to look like it) for a very special advanced screening of Atomic Blonde (David Leitch, 2017). Complete with ice-filled bath tubs and more neon lighting than you can shake a stick at, here's a little look at our evening...
Hosted by Universal Pictures at Village Underground in Shoreditch, Jack and I headed downstairs and in to the ultimate 1980s haven to celebrate next week's release of Atomic Blonde. For those of you who have not yet heard of it, the film stars Charlize Theron as Lorraine Broughton - an elite MI6 agent. Sent to Berlin during the Cold War to retrieve vital information, she soon becomes caught up in tracking down a ruthless double agent. Based on the graphic novel The Coldest City and directed by David Leitch, it's pretty much two hours of neon-soaked, beautifully brutal action sequences.
I'll be honest, I go to a lot of film screenings but very few studios think to create such an immersive experience for a movie. Universal really went all out on this; inviting many-a-familiar face to the event also (not naming names). Keeping it on theme, we were treated to some delicious currywurst (my favourite foodie treat from Berlin), an open bar of theme drinks by Stoli and plenty of photoautomat opportunities. To finish up the night, there was a great DJ set before finally sitting down in front of a big screen to enjoy the film.
All in all, we had a fantastic time at the Atomic Blonde advanced screening. A huge thanks to Universal for allowing us to attend - we had an amazing German-themed evening and I can't wait for more people to see the film when it hits cinemas next week. But for now, tell me - are you looking forward to seeing Atomic Blonde? What expectations do you have for the film? As always, I love reading your comments so please do leave me lots of lovely ones below. As for my film review, don't worry - that'll follow very shortly.
Until next time fellow film fans,

Yeah I thought it was very clever how they put it all together. Almost a bit like a Secret Cinema event (if you know what that is). Haha dw, I'll be writing it up soon :) xx
