Lifestyle Review: My New Bedroom with Leesa

A few months ago I moved in to a new flat by myself. For me, this was a chance to decorate my space how I'd always wanted and without any restrictions. So I thought I'd kick-start my new blogging habits by showing you around...

That's right, I'm a big girl now. If I want to have bats hanging on my walls all year round - that's exactly what I'm having. As some of you may have read in my recent post, a few months ago, I moved out of the flat I shared with my now-ex boyfriend and in to a new place of my own. At first, the thought was pretty scary and I was admittedly devastated to be leaving my little dream flat. But sometimes starting over can be good for personal growth and I've had time to really make the new place my own. And in case you were wondering - yes, I do wear pumpkin pyjamas all year round.

So, it may not be the most Instagrammable looking room ever but I'm pretty happy with what I've managed to do with the place in such a short space of time. And it's really no surprise that my new bedroom is monochrome and minimalist. As you can see, it's made up mostly of trinkets I've collected from my travels, film memorabilia, taxidermy and rather a lot of plants. Much like my old place, I wanted to keep it feeling fresh, modern with simplistic furniture.

Lucky, most of the furniture and items in the flat were mine so the transition was fairly easy but I was excited to finally get my own bed and mattress - something I'd never had to do previously. I'd always hated my bedroom and bed at my old place and so when I moved in, it was definitely a priority of mine to upgrade. But also getting a new one that was in-keeping with the decor was important to me.

**UPDATE July 2020 - Leesa is no longer available to purchase within Europe**

Thankfully, shortly after moving in, Leesa got in touch with me. I had actually heard about Leesa* previously from my favourite podcast - The Adam Buxton Podcast. It may not sound genuine, but I'd always actually talked about one day investing in one as I'd heard such good things and memory foam seems to be a growing trend. And having moved house and finally getting my own bed seemed like the perfect opportunity.

For those of you who have not yet heard of Leesa, they operate exclusively online and offer a 100-night risk-free trial period - meaning that you can try your mattress for 100 nights and if you're not happy with it, all you have to do is get in touch with them and they arrange for the mattress to be collected and donated through a charitable organisation. And further to this, for every 10 mattresses sold, they donate one mattress to charitable causes - not bad, aye?

So having slept on my mattress of 100 nights, what did I think? Well, I can say, hand-on-heart, that I am completely over the moon with my Leesa Mattress. At first, I can admit I was a little worried as I'd heard that memory foam mattress aren't recommended for people with bad backs (me) and can be very hot (especially in the Summer). However, I think it's actually forced me to straighten up whilst I sleep. Leesa mattresses are different in that they are made up of three foams which allow for body contouring, pressure relieving-core support and are cooling. So I can honestly say that I'm never switching back to anything else.

Also, for me being a first time mattress owner, it was super easy to set-up and no hassle. You do need to take care when you open the box as they are tightly compact inside but all you need to do is carefully unbox your mattress, position the wrapped up mattress on a flat surface, unroll and leave to expand for 24 hours. That's it!

So all-in-all, I'm pretty pleased with my new set up as you can imagine. If you want to check out my old place, you can do so here. I'll admit that I miss it sometimes, it was very much my little comfort spot but I also know that I can recreate it again very soon. I'm also super excited to start building a new place with my boyfriend in the New Year.

Well that's it for my bedroom tour. I always feel a bit weird about sharing posts like this as I also find it bizarre that people would find this interesting but after my last room tour I thought I'd give it a shot.

A huge thank you to Leesa for my amazing mattress, I honestly couldn't be happier with it. You can also get a cheeky £100 off your own Leesa mattress with discount code 'POPCORNGLITTER'. But tell me, how have you made your room your little safe place? Have you upgraded your room lately? As always I love hearing from you so please do leave me lots of lovely comments below.

Until next time,

  1. It looks pretty cozy. I like the black, upside-down roses :) They make for good goth accents (along with the bats) in your living space. While Christmas shopping, I just picked up some extra bedsheets for myself and a new duvet. In the US, we have something called "queen-size", which is similar to a regular king-size in the UK but I think the dimensions are a little different.
Anyway, I hope that you have happiness and comfort in your new place!

    1. Aww thank you! I got the idea from when I was in Salem - they had so many beautiful flowers hung up in the same way. Oh really? I think Queen Size is bigger here than a King and a bit harder to come by. Thanks Gil, hope you're well too :)

  2. I like how your room is minimalistic and cosy at the same time. The monochrome theme is great and the bats are definitely a year round item in my eyes. I'm currently sorting out my new living space as well so this has given me a few ideas.
P.S. Where did you get those pumpkin pyjamas?
