This week, I was set a wonderful challenge to find the best places to eat in
Soho. And so, after a week of eating like a king on my lunch breaks, I've put together a list of my favourite places to pig out when visiting London's Soho.

Whole Lobster from Burger & Lobster, Dean Street |
I'm sure I've said it before on this blog but lobster is my probably my most favourite food on the planet. If like me, you can't resist tucking in to a buttery, meaty crustacean and you happen to be wandering round the Soho area, I would most definitely advise ordering at
Burger & Lobster on Dean Street. Whilst they aren't necessarily renowned for their customer service, for just £25 (plus service charge) you can get yourself a delicious 1.5lbs whole lobster. The dish comes served steamed or grilled (grilled is certainly my preferred choice) with french fries, side salad and a choice of plain, lemon or garlic butter sauce. If you don't mind spending a little bit extra, however, I'd definitely suggest upgrading to a slightly bigger lobster as it makes all the difference, in terms of the quality of meat.

Classic Lobster Roll from SMACK, Dean Street |
If you've only got time for a quick bite but you're still feeling fancy,
SMACK Lobster Roll goes down a treat. Also located on Dean Street, you can choose from three equally delicious toppings - California (lettuce, tomato, avocado mayo with lime and chives), Classic (Japanese mayo and lemon) or the Seven Samurai (Japanese mayo, Chinese cabbage, cucumber, pickled ginger, spring onions, togarashi spice). Also available on the menu are sweet potato fries, french fries with cajun spice, salads and lobster chowder. The ultimate payday treat.

Mac Daddy Burger and Deep Fried Mac & Cheese Balls from Dirty Bones, Kingly Court |
Sometimes after a day of wandering the streets of London, all you need is some good ole' fashioned comfort food. Look no further than
Dirty Bones. Located on the top level of the Kingly Court (an extension of Carnaby Street), they pride themselves on premium hotdogs, hearty burgers and extravagant cocktails. Incorporating a blend of American, Asian and Mexican influences, it is a stunning neon-lit hideaway serving a variety comfort food dishes. One of their best-loved signature dishes is the
Mac Daddy Burger; a 6oz house burger topped with pulled beef rib, mac & cheese and Dirty Bones BBQ sauce. Also highly recommend are their
Deep Fried Mac & Cheese Balls.

Pre-Chop Bites, Rump Steak and Vanilla Cheesecake at Blacklock, Great Windmill Street |
Second only to lobster is, of course, is a perfectly pink steak. A new place I stumbled upon recently is
Blacklock on Great Windmill Street. Before heading to a film screening at the Soho Hotel, we swung in after work to try out their delicious meaty menu. Starting with some Pre-Chop Bites (cheese and pickle, pig's head and kimchee, egg and anchovy on crackers), we both went for the beautifully seasoned Rump Steak. Blacklock have a great selection of sides to choose from but we opted for the Beef Dripping cooked chips and Charred Courgettes with Chicory and Stilton. To finish off our wonderful meal, we tried their vanilla cheesecake which was incredible.

Crab Tonkotsu at Bone Daddies, Peter Street |
Whenever anyone I know is visiting London or asks for food recommendations, the place I always tell them to go to is
Bone Daddies - the connoisseurs of Japanese soul food. Right in the heart of Soho on Peter Street, Bone Daddies is a lively ramen bar offering sake, beers and an array of asian snacks. If you fancy a hearty meal to send you off in to a blissful food coma, I would definitely suggest ordering one of their signature ramen bowls.
My go-to order is Crab Tonkotsu; charred pork belly (though I usually ask for it without), deep fried soft-shell crab, chilli, kale and black sesame. The broth alone is enough to make my belly happy but combined with the noodles and crab, it is the perfect asian comfort food. Further to this, they also serve the best chicken wings in London's West End and
Jess Jolliffe will vouch for me on this.

Selection of cupcakes from Crumbs and Doilies |
If like me you've got a rather large sweet tooth, my favourite place to grab a slice of cake or two is Crumbs and Doilies. Founded by
YouTuber, Jemma Cupcake, they offer freshly baked custom and themed cupcakes and brownies in Carnaby's Kingly Court. This place was first introduced to me by
Sarah when she and few other friends came to visit me in London years ago and I've been taking people there ever since.
I can often be put off by cupcakes if their frosting is too sweet or sickly but C&Ds create fresh bakes with real cream and jams and their mini cupcakes hit the spot every time. Their range changes regularly but if you get a chance to try a Unicorn Cupcake, I'd strongly recommend you give it a go.

Well, that's it for another foodie review but tell me,
where are some of your most favourite places to eat in London's Soho? Have you tried out any of my recommendations above? As always, I love reading your comments so please do leave me lots of lovely ones below.
Until next time,

These all look very delicious! I am so happy that you are still enjoying Crumbs and Doilies! x
ReplyDeleteHaha thank you for showing it to me! :) x
DeleteHow have I not heard of most of these?! I tried Burger & Lobster once (regrettably not for the lobster) and found the same with the customer service. However the burger I had there was wonderful. Noting these down for next time I'm in Soho! x
ReplyDeleteReally? I was worried people would read it and go "these are generic!" so that makes me happy - but they've always been my go-to places. It's such a shame about Burger and Lobster's service because it really puts me off going there. I think it's because the service is automatically added on that they just don't care :( x
DeleteAll that stuff looks amazing! *drools*
