What's new in Nashville for 2024?
2024 marks a special year of celebration in Nashville with show-stopping new music venues, events and restaurants to look forward to. Back in October, I was excited to attend a special networking event to celebrate all things Music City as Nashville touched down in London with the NFL and the Tennessee Titans at Tottenham, Luke Combs at the O2 and Nashville in concert. It was so exciting to hear all about the city had coming up.

“As another recording-breaking year comes to a close, we’re excited to see what’s in store for 2024,” said Deana Ivey, President and CEO of the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp. “Nashville’s Music City brand continues to solidify us as a top destination, captivating visitors from around the world, and we’re grateful for the city’s growing popularity along with the new entertainment attractions and diverse offerings.”
Nashville Music Venues
Naturally, Music City lives up to its name with two new developments opening in 2024, adding to the more than 180 live music venues that are currently in Nashville.
The Nashville Yards Concert Hall and Cannery Hall
The latest spaces involve the Nashville Yards Concert Hall and Cannery Hall, which are scheduled for completion by the end of 2024. The history of Cannery Hall dates back over 140 years and has been the bedrock of Nashville’s live music scene for over 40 years—with acts such as George Strait, Chance the Rapper, Dave Matthews, among others. The newly renovated Cannery Hall will be one of the largest independent music venues in Nashville featuring three stages, state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems, new food and beverage menus, and more. The venue will open its doors to a wide variety of musical tastes, such as rock, Pop, Country, EDM, Hip Hop, R&B, Jam, House, Disco, Grunge, Soul, Trap, Classical Guitar, and more.
Nashville Yards
Nashville Yards is a new 19-acre entertainment mixed-use complex that will open in phases throughout 2024—boasting a 4,500-capacity concert hall scheduled to open at the end of 2024. The property will also offer a curated collection of food, beverage and shopping options that span over 350,000 square feet across the complex, and an upscale urban 12-screen cinema built on-site. Included in the project will be over seven acres of open plaza and green space for patrons to enjoy and experience.

Friends in Low Places
Nashville’s Lower Broadway will see a rise in venues, and it begins prior to the calendar turning with the highly anticipated opening of Friends in Low Places, a honky-tonk bar owned by Garth Brooks. The three-story building with 40,000 square feet will have live music on each floor for patrons. The venue is slated to open on Black Friday, 24 November 2023, with a ticketed Dive Bar concert from Brooks himself.
Nashville Bars by Eric Church, Bon Jovi and Luke Combs to Open
The opening of Friends in Low Places will jumpstart a thread of venues opening in 2024 on Lower Broadway that feature musical stars Eric Church, Bon Jovi, and Luke Combs. Two of the three will have their venues opening on Broadway, while Combs’ venue is set to replace Nashville’s Wildhorse Saloon on 2nd Avenue.
Church's venue, Chief’s is a state-of-the-art six-story property that will feature a two-story seated music venue within the bar that is able to host ticketed live events. The venue will also have a made-for-live broadcasting studio that will be inclusive of Church’s Outsiders Radio SiriusXM channel, with the capability of hosting broadcasts by various media partners. On the culinary spectrum, Church has partnered with James Beard Award-winning pitmaster and BBQ chef Rodney Scott for the bar’s food program.
Combs has partnered with Opry Entertainment group to open his entertainment complex, which is inspired by his platinum hit “Hurricane” and will be 69,000 square feet. The venue will include a concert footprint with a capacity of 1,500 guests for ticketed events to go along with the 9,000-square-foot rooftop. The three levels of the interior of the building will be influenced by Combs’ songs, lifestyle, and interests.
Bon Jovi’s venue will feature five floors, with two outdoor rooftop decks on the fifth floor within the 35,000-square-foot property. The bar will address both Broadway and Fourth Avenue South with its design.
2024 Nashville Events and Anniversaries
Nashville will see two historic anniversaries in 2024 as the famous Hatch Show Print will be celebrating its 145th anniversary next year. Beginning in 1879, Hatch Show Print is one of the oldest letterpress shops in the country and has evolved into creating posters that cover the sides of buildings throughout the country to create excitement for shows and events, including every performance at the iconic Ryman Auditorium.
Historic Travellers Rest will be celebrating its 225th year as the oldest historic house open to the public in Nashville. Originally built by John Overton in 1779, Overton obtained an appointment from President George Washington to become Supervisor of the Revenue for the District of Tennessee and later became a travelling circuit court judge. Through Overton’s close friendship with Andrew Jackson and association with Nashville political leaders, the group helped launch Jackson as the first President of the United States from Tennessee.
Today, Travellers Rest is one of only a few Federal period houses in Tennessee open to the public. It hosts visitors from around the world who learn the evolution of Nashville's history from its pre-contact beginnings through the New South period.
